About  Me

I am a graduate student in the statistics department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My primary focus of study is Biostatistics. However, I find the dark side (aka,  mathematical statistics) to be quite alluring as well.

If you are interested in where I come from(it's really not that interesting) and the things I enjoy doing, read on. I grew up in the small "town " of Shihezi, XinJiang. The population of this Donggucheng town is about 90,000(I told you it wasn't that  interesting). The town is surrounded by cotton, desert and forest(kind of weird, but I bet you believe that those trees are planted to block the offense of desert). I was born in 1976 and apparently the event was not so exciting because my parent decided not to have more child -- I already got a brother and a sister, older than me by 4 and 3 years respectively. Of course, this relatively balanced structure of family makes for a lot of happy time around the holidays.

As odd as it may seem, I also have some interests outside of statistics. These mostly include soccer, camping, pool, desert expenditure and listening to live music. It's also a lot of fun to buy gear for the first three activities on the list; however, I find the student lifestyle doesn't allow me to pursuer this last activity with a lot of vigor. Below you will find a few of my favorite links to these activities as well as a few other sites about my hometown.
